Un "BON" week-end

I spent a wonderful weekend with Bonita, my parents' college/work friend.  My mom has kept in touch with her throughout the years, and, as it turns out, she only lives 5 hours away in New York.  Through the suggestion of my mom, we worked out a trip for her to come, and I'm so glad she did!

We had so much fun around the city!  We started off the weekend on Friday and walked around downtown Montreal, exploring Rue St-Catherine and Place des Arts before riding the metro to Ile St-Helene and Ile Notre-Dame to check out the finale of the summer fireworks competition.

Saturday consisted of many different adventures.  In the morning we headed to Vieux Montreal and Vieux Port for a tour.  We then had a delicious lunch at a small cafe before heading to Jean-Talon Market to get some fresh produce.  We took those fruits with us on what turned out to be an extra-long hike up to the summit of Mont Royal, trekking through neighbourhoods, a cemetery, forests, and along the edge of a highway.  It makes for some great memories!  The day ended with a relaxing night at the apartment cooking dinner and watching some Olympics and a movie.

We woke early Sunday for church, and afterward, we headed to Oratoire St-Joseph after lunch.  We got to hear some of an organ concert while also seeing the amazing view from the bottom AND top of the cathedral.  After that, we had to say goodbye, but it was a fun-packed weekend.  So glad you got to come, Bon!!!
